Yoga Charity Event @ AYF Saturday 18th Oct
66 million girls around the world are not in school.
Simply because they were born a girl.
Wear a school dress. Change this.
Join us on Saturday 18th October 2014
3pm - 4.30pm @ Adelaide Yoga Flow
This event at Adelaide Yoga Flow is an opportunity for the local community to come together for one afternoon in October.
All it takes is a school dress, some yoga moves and a desire to help others less fortunate.
Established in 2009, One Girl is the brainchild of two Melbourne-based social-entrepreneurs, Chantelle Baxter and David Dixon. The pair started the non-profit organisation after a research trip through Africa ignited their passion for girls’ education.
Why girls? Why Sierra Leone?
If you’re born a girl in Sierra Leone, the odds are stacked against you.
Sierra Leone is considered one of the worst places in the world to be born a girl and there are many challenges girls face when it comes to accessing education.
At One Girl, we believe that when you educate a girl, she can change her world.
We are on a mission to educate 1 million girls across Africa by 2020. That’s where Do It In A Dress comes in.
So far, the Do It In A Dress campaign has raised $650,000 and funded:
Supported 200 girls through education scholarships
Trained 78 girls in small business skills
Provided access to affordable, biodegradable sanitary pads to over 1,200 women and girls
Funded the construction of a toilet block through our school awesomeisation project
We’ve almost finished building our first school which will benefit over 250 boys and girls
SAVE THE DATE: The event will be from 3pm - 4.30pm on Saturday 18th October and will
